Brainstorming Thread IV

It's been a very long time in coming, but looking over where we've come and where we'd like to go, I think that this brainstorming thread is long overdue. As such, here it is!

WERP is now in its third season, and while that alone is pretty incredible, we can make it better. We're still in Phase 1 of Act III, and as such, the canvas is fresh and we can really do a lot from here. The general idea is that BnL is still present, but things can still be added to that and modified around it, making this more of what WERP was and still is... everyone's story. If you've got ideas to add to this new season, don't hesitate to post them.

As the entire group of storycrafters, here are just some of the general things we can discuss here:

*What do we want to see happen?

*What ideas do we have for plotlines around this third season?

*Where do we go on Gliese 581 d or even back on Earth?

And there we go. The thread is open, so please post away. Let's get some great ideas out here and make Season 3 a great one. ^_^

Hmmm... to be honest, I'm not entirely sure where I want to go in the immediate moment. I was thinking of coming up with a human medic character for Team BnL... but I'm not sure. I have very few ideas bouncing around at the moment. ^^;

But I do know is that I'd like to see more character interaction with the Rogue robots, OSM and Cind-e.

On a side note, I do love Helene's interactions. She's so sweet! ^^

Character interactions would be good, but we need to get somewhere first for them to occur.

Honestly, once we wrap up a couple of short plots we've got here (namely a rescue), one thing I was thinking of was actually giving our characters a slight break from the action. It can help the Heritage recover and maybe even set up for some interactions between them and the new colony on Earth. That chance for added character development all around could help everyone here while all of us get more ideas set.

Well, if we end up back on Earth, there's still a wedding to be had. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

If I'm understanding you, the idea is that BnL still has an active presence on this new planet, right? I think this could bring up some interesting plot for EVE; what's it like for her to see that world she used to be caught in again?

Also... how would the humans in this world react to the concept of freedom from BnL? Would they be happy like team Earth? Or... would they have a very different reaction to the concept of change? Either way, I'd see McCrea playing an active role in that part of the story. And have the humans already been off their planet and returned? Or is their planet heading towards the same fate Earth did? Or have they learned to manage it before it got that far? If so, did they manage it in a great way or a way harmful to something else?

Also, are they just continuing on their own following BNL's footsteps? OR is something or someone still actively manipulating them? Do they have a leader with a connection to BnL, or are they also in a state where they have a figurehead and then something more sinister behind the scenes?

I also have some plans for TAM-E, but, well.... that's classified and being worked on between me and a certain other RPer. :P

That's a good point for Eve, Auto, and most of the BnL bots, actually. About the only ones that might be immune would be Wall-E and the Reject Bots (to an extent)... this could bring up some interesting robotic character dynamics.

As for the humans, that's also really good stuff to think on too. One thing to remember is that despite certain leaders, BnL was never actually evil back in the day. They did well at first and meant well, even if they messed up the Earth and cruise plans around it. They really made a lot of advancements for humankind, even if they let themselves get far too carried away, and that plus the fact that they at least cared enough to send everyone on cruises are things to keep in mind.

As for BnL on Gliese 581 d, they're keeping on as the original set of executives did... living out their own lives and making sure that all of their citizens across the new base/starliners have everything they need and more. One thing I can see is that despite the inevitable "Gel-trance" that most people are in now regardless of their physical build, the entire awakening that Mary, John, McCrea, and eventually the entire population of the Axiom could be carried out across other starliners and even on the base, at least to some extent. Now that's something to think on too.

As for the BnL executives... well, as advanced as they'd like to think they are... they are still following in the footsteps of their predecessors, building their empire one block at a time...

Hrm, I could see something similar for Auto. He hates BnL now, but a part of him he wouldn't admit exists still kind of longs for the sort of order they could provide. He can curse Forthright's name all he wants, but he's still an autopilot; wanting everything to be neat and orderly is part of his nature.

Yes, he's happy with his freedom, more or less, but he's also tired of all the chaos that goes with it. He's REALLY tired of all the fighting . . . BnL may have ruled with an iron fist in a velvet glove, but at least back then it was relatively peaceful.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions for SAM-E, and I believe that this could be a great opportunity to touch on some of those issues. For instance, SAM-E's could be found on a few other ships in the BnL fleet besides the endeavor, Whatever happened to them? Were they all shut down? if so, then what kind of a reaction would our SAM-E get once the people of Gliese see him?

This could also be a great opportunity for him to learn about Dr Sheppard, although I have NO idea how to make that happen without it feeling forced.

Just an update for everyone... around taking all of these ideas into consideration and whilst all of us use this as a general idea base, the three admins have met a few times and talked about potential plots. We're working on the arrival to Gliese 581 d, and as it stands, the ships are going to drop out of hyperjump right before they get to the planet. From these, for ease of landings as well as to prevent the BnL base from detecting as many of them or detecting them as easily as they could, they will be loading up the AVP and AV1 with a small rescue force before jetting to the planet so that Aida can stage her rescue.

Remember, these rescue teams need to be small, but if you'd like to have a character or two of yours on one, or at least considered for the team (we might have to take this at Steele and effectively Aida's discretion), feel free to post it here.

We're on the track to get Season 3 even better now, so let's go for it everyone. And of course, do remember to post any ideas you have here for the epicness that is brainstorming. ^_^
